You might have seen other bloggers talk about their "word" for the new year. Basically you pick one word that describes what you want to focus on in the new year or what will inspire you. Last year I decided my word was "NEW". Why? Well we had just moved into our NEW house, had our brand NEW baby, got a NEW car, started getting to know our NEW neighbors and church members...etc. You get the idea. I've seen so many people gripe about 2016 but it was really good to my little family. I'm so excited for this year though because unlike last year when we were really just settling in and taking our first wobbly steps as new homeowners, this year I really want to make some progress. The word I've chosen for 2016 is "GROWTH". I want to grow as a mother. I want to teach and laugh and play and inspire. I want to really breathe in each precious second I get to spend with my babies. I want to grow as a wife. Be there for him, listen to him, understand him better than I ever have. I want to grow as a blogger/Etsy shop owner. If you're a blogger than you know that blogging is HARD. It is so easy to get sucked into the whirlpool of comparing yourself to those bloggers you want to be like and feeling yourself sink lower and lower until you don't even want to try anymore. This is a daily struggle for me. Sometimes my inner voice can be a real jerk and I can't tell you how many times I considered throwing in the towel. I keep going because this is what inspires me and makes me truly happy. To go totally cheesy on you... my heart is totally in-sync with Hillary Swank in P.S. I Love You when she says "My business is to create." My little blog might not be making much money or be as beautiful as the bloggers I obsessively follow but it's my own little piece of the internet and each year I get better.
Well enough of that, let's get to my top posts of 2016.
1. QUIRKY LOVE CARDS.
I made these cute cards last year for Valentines Day and they have exploded all over Pinterest. I still can't believe anyone actually wants or prints out my little drawings. It sure made this girl teary to see my post get pinned so many times. I can't wait to show you what I'm working on for this Valentine's Day!
2. DIY LACE CROWNS.
One of my all time favorite projects and it was so simple! My husband HATES glitter and he totally gave me the look when I got out my sparkly glitter but these crowns turned out so cute. I'm still working on my photography skills but I was so pleased with how these pictures turned out and I ended up printing them and framing them in my house.
3. PETER RABBIT PRINT
I was so honored when my friend Kristen from Ella Claire Inspired invited me to be a part of her Spring Printable Blog Hop. The Peter Rabbit story has always been special to me so I made a giant printable of the first page of the story. I can't wait to get it out again when spring finally makes an appearance!
4. ADVENTURE BABY SHOWER
This party was so fun to put together. My sister had baby twin boys in May and I threw her an "Adventure" baby shower. We had s'mores cupcakes and cute twig pencils and a fun free printable animal game I put together. Honestly I don't know why this post does so well because usually if the pictures are bad, my posts don't make it off the ground. Though I cringe when I see these photos, I'm glad people are seeing past my bad photography skills.
5. DIY FARMERS MARKET SIGN
Here's another example of my not so great photography skills. I really love this project though. It makes me happy every time I walk into my kitchen. A redo photo shoot is definitely in my future. See? Pushing myself to be better all the time!
There you have it. Those were my top posts of the year. I've got so much I want to get done this year and I can't wait to show you. Thanks for following along on this journey with me!
