The other thing I did was I hung up the "Once upon a time" banner I made forever ago. I never did a post about it but it was really simple. All I did was I downloaded a free font called RAGE and I ripped out pages from a dollar store book and taped them to normal printer paper. I printed one letter at a time and it took a little trial and error to get the letters to be printed exactly where I wanted them on the page. Then I hole punched the pages and hung it with twine.
My "I am a child of God" sign is a project that I thought of months and months ago and it took me forever to actually get it done. It took me 3 or 4 tries till I found the perfect font. I printed it as an 18x24 engineer print at Staples for $1.79 and then I modpodged it on thin plywood.
I used a scraper (or you could use a credit card) to smooth out all the bubbles. Just to warn you, the engineer print paper was very thin so I had a hard time not ripping or tearing the paper. Work in sections and carefully smooth it out or you'll be tearing your hair out like I was. I think the next time I try this, I'll use thicker paper or photo paper and see if it's easier.
Despite my frustrations, I'm so excited about how it turned out! I stained some 1x2s with my favorite Minwax Dark Walnut stain and my dad cut it into a frame for me. We staple gunned it to the board and added one of those sawtooth picture hangers (like this one HERE) to the back and it was ready to go! If you like my "I am a child of God" print you can print it HERE.
I've still got a few things I want to get done in this room but I'm so excited about the progress we've made. I really wanted to create a special place for my girls to play and I think it's getting there. Because every little girl's room should have a little magic, don't you think?
