DIY Playroom Banner

We just moved in to our brand new house the week of Christmas and I'm still in the process of unpacking and organizing but I wanted to share at least one room that's starting to look a little bit put together. It's Lucy's playroom (go figure, huh?).  I was so excited to hang my little banner I made her over her new little kitchen and playhouse.

Let me start off with saying that I'm VERY new to sewing.  I have only taken on a couple of projects so far and I feel very accomplished that I can now thread the needle on the machine and put the bobbin in without looking at the manual.  That being said, if you are a pro seamstress person, don't look too closely at all my mistakes... and if you're like me, well if I can do it, than you can definitely do it too!

First, you'll need to pick out some fabric.  I went to Joann's and looked through all their quilting squares because I didn't need a lot of fabric and the little squares just seemed so convenient.  For my pattern, I went into Word and drew a triangle shape and printed it off and cut it out.

Here's a quick way I cut out each triangle.  I cut out the triangle but left the fabric on the top.

Then I folded it over and cut it out again

When I was done, it looked like this

Now all that's left to do is sew up the bottom and stick your twine through the top.

I used clear thumb tacks to hang my twine.

I love when something so simple has a big impact!  Thanks for stopping by!
